Resolutions

I am working on my New Year’s resolution early.

Over the past 18 months or so I have been working on streamlining our communications. A way to provide a persistent, easy-to-access, rich communication conduit has been the goal. Most of our professional partners and capital partners are internet savvy. So, a BLOG seems to be the natural choice.

But writing a BLOG means commitment: recurring commitment to produce meaningful, interesting content. No one appreciates a stale BLOG site, which is why I have resisted putting another regular “to-do” on my list until now.

I have a lot of respect for my friends who are writers and/or journalists. They have to write on a deadline. This means creating time to focus on composing and expressing complete thoughts, among all of the distractions in the world including twitter, instant messaging, email, cell phones, etc.

This is tough. Actually, it is the transition from a busy, distracted world to one of quiet introspection that is tough. If you learn anything from your children, it is that transitions are hard. For my kids, it is transitioning from legos to dinner, or even taking a potty break; for me, it is breaking away from the computer, phone and mobile devices to find a moment of quiet. But when I do finally sit down and find a clear quiet space to think, plan, and write, it always feels good.

This year my resolution is to create a BLOG that will provide meaningful, interesting information about our company to our partners. So, I think this will be good for me. I hope it works for you as well.
